Aberdeen City and Shire - Strategic Development Planning Authority

Current Work

The work of the SDPA will initially focus on the preparation of a new structure plan for the area. This project formally started in February 2007, although background work and initial community and stakeholder consultation took place in the second half of 2006.

Following the end of the consultation period for the draft Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan (on 12 September 2008), the Strategic Development Plan Team are currently summarising and considering proposed responses to all comments received.

These proposed responses will then be reported to the Strategic Development Planning Authority, which will decide on an agreed response, as well as whether and how the draft plan should be changed as a result.

We will then publish a 'Finalised' plan and submit it to Scottish Ministers - likely to be early 2009. At this point there will be an opportunity to formally object to Scottish Ministers.

In the meantime, updates will be provided on our website. Those who register will receive e-mail updates to keep in touch with the latest news.

More information on the draft structure plan can be found by following the link to 'Emerging Structure Plan'.

The SDPA submitted a SDP area proposal to Scottish Ministers on 24 September 2008. The proposal can be found via the Quick Links and more information is available here.
