Aberdeen City and Shire - Strategic Development Planning Authority

Development Plan Schemes

The Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Planning Authority (as well as the two Councils individually) will need to prepare a development plan scheme (DPS) under the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006. It will need to be published annually, setting out how we intend to prepare the development plan and what opportunities there are to get involved and influence it.

The Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Planning Committee published a DPS on 23 February 2007 to coincide with the start of work on a new structure plan for the area. This set out a project plan as well as a participation statement. This has subsequently been reviewed to cover the period 2008/09 and will be available here shortly. Both of these have been prepared on a non-statutory basis but seeking to embrace the modernisation agenda of the Scottish Government.

It is expected that both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils will publish DPSs in early 2009 in relation to their preparation of local development plans.
