Structure Plan

The current structure plan was approved by Scottish Ministers in August 2009 and looks forward to 2030. It is a short, visionary and accessible plan with a Crystal Mark from the Plain English Campaign.

Note: The NEST structure plan approved by Ministers in 2001 remains part of the development plan in that part of Aberdeenshire within the Cairngorms National Park

  • Marischal College (Planning and Sustainable Development), Broad Street, Aberdeen;
  • Woodhill House (Planning and Building Standards), Westburn Road, Aberdeen; and
  • All public libraries throughout the area.

Under the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006, structure plans will be replaced by strategic development plans in the four largest city-regions. A leaflet Strategic Development Plans in Scotland - The Way Forward has been produced to provide further information and guidance.
