SDP Examination Update

The Scottish Government's Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA) issued a case update last week relating to their examination of the Proposed Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Plan (Current Work). The plan was submitted to Scottish Ministers in July 2013.

The update stated that -

"The reporters have concluded their examination of the authority's actions in regard to its Participation Statement and the examination of the proposed strategic development plan commenced on 22 August. The reporters are making good progress in considering the representations to the proposed plan and further information requests are being issued where required. They are now confident that no oral procedure will be required to assist the examination."

To date, four further information requests have been issued, two to the SDPA, one to Transport Scotland and one to Scottish Water.

The Scottish Government (Circular 1/2009, para 68) expects examinations to take around 6 months following the appointment of reporters and rarely exceed 9 months. This could equate to the examination report being published in late January 2014 (6 months) or late April 2014 (9 months).

All information relating to the examination can be found on the DPEA website -
