The Scottish Government laid the proposed National Planning Framework 3 before the Scottish Parliament yesterday (14 January 2014) to start its 60 day period of parliamentary scrutiny.

The National Planning Framework sets the context for development planning in Scotland and provides a framework for the spatial development of Scotland as a whole. It sets out the Government’s development priorities over the next 20-30 years and identifies national developments which support the development strategy.

Early engagement on National Planning Framework 3 took place in late 2012, with a Main Issues Report and Draft Framework published for consultation on 30 April 2013. The Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Planning Authority responded to both of these opportunities to comment on this important document.

Over 550 responses were received to the Main Issues Report and a consultation Report analysing those responses was published in late 2013.
