Aberdeenshire adopt new local development plan

Aberdeenshire Council adopted its replacement local development plan (LDP) on 17 April 2017.

The new plan replaces the 2012 LDP in guiding the development of Aberdeenshire over the next five years and beyond. It was prepared to implement the current Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Plan (2014) which is the strategic plan for the city region.

Scottish Ministers confirmed on 12 April 2017 that they did not propose issuing a 'Direction' in relation to the new plan, freeing the Council to adopt it.

The new plan can be viewed on the Aberdeenshire Council website www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/planning/plans-and-policies/aberdeenshire-local-development-plan-2017

Both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils have now adopted their second LDPs, the first councils in Scotland to do so, having adopted their first LDPs in 2012. Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire therefore continue to have up-to-date plan coverage, with both examinations confirming a healthy supply of housing and employment land across the area.
