Submission of Aberdeen City and Shire Proposed Plan to Scottish Ministers

The SDPA on  agreed upon the submission to Scottish Ministers of the Proposed Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Plan with no modifications and the Plan was submitted for approval on 4 July 2013.

Submission will start a period of examination undertaken by the Scottish Government's Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA). During this period a Reporter will be appointed to consider all unresolved representations made to the Proposed Plan.

The period of representations ran for 7 weeks from 22 February to 12 April 2013, during which time 247 response forms were received from a total of 76 individuals or organisations.

A notice was placed in the newspaper on 9 July 2013 and everyone who submitted representations to the Proposed Plan have been sent letters to inform them of the submission to Scottish Ministers.

Upon the appointment of a Reporter to undertake the Development Plan Examination, Scottish Ministers will place a further notice in the press and send letters to all those who submitted representations.

The proposed plan has been drafted to ensure the North East maintains and enhances its enviable quality of life and strong position in the Scottish and wider UK economies. The plan looks forward to 2035 and sets out the new homes, employment land and infrastructure improvements required over that period.

Around 600 copies of the plan were circulated, with copies available in all libraries in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire and both council headquarters. Copies of the plan are available on request from the address above as well as being available to download.

All information on the progress of the Examination will be held on the DPEA website. Once a Reporter is appointed and the Examination process begins a direct link will be provided on the SDPA website to enable ease of access to information.
